I saw God once
in that hazy moment of in between sleep and awake I saw
a figure, clad in white and
bent over like a leaf too heavy with rainwater
The world has forsaken me, God moaned with overy ounce of agony of time gone by and yet to come
It was painful to hear
and as he stood to face me I saw
that his clothes, the tattered robe marred with offensive grime, hung loosely over translucent sallow skin and brittle bones
This was no God
How was he the one who hefted all the world upon his shoulders and cradled every wretched creature in the wrinkled palm of his hand?
I fell from Heaven
gripping at the covers as I woke with a start,
